When you book and pay for 2 or more people onto the same course in one transaction, you will receive a 5% discount. When you book and pay for 4 or more courses in one transaction, you will receive a 10% discount.

AIMS AND OUTCOMES

By the end of the 5 week course, you will have made a useful tote bag with individual sections perfect for holding bottles of drinks to take on your picnic, carry to your friend’s BBQ, or to use at the weekly shop. Of course it’s your choice whether or not to use it to bring bottles of wine for the picnic! It’s a great project for new sewists with lots of straight edges. We will be using 1.5 metres of a heavy fabric such as thick calico, cotton canvas, or drill, in either prints or plain colours.

During the course, you will learn:

  • How to use a pattern (template) and and understand the specialist markings and symbols

  • How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing

  • The different types of presser feet and stitch settings on the machine, to increase your confidence when making sewing choices independently

  • Knowledge of different types of fabrics and notions

  • How to sew straight, strong seams

  • Hemming and top stitching

  • How to sequence and construct multiple sections of fabric
