1.5 hour sessions = 7.5 hours of learning time

6pm to 7.30pm
Held at Redborne Upper School, in Ampthill.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
The price you pay reserves you a place at each weekly session, full use of all machines and tools, and includes your kit to make your project. You have two kits to choose from…
£125
The Parrot kit includes all the essentials to make your duffle bag, but no fabric. Perfect if you already have a stash of fabric at home that can be used! Recommended fabrics are found below in the Aims and Outcomes section.
£130
The Peacock kit includes all the essentials, such as pattern pieces and threads (plus more!) and a fabric of your choice. So there’s nothing else you need to bring with you. You will be given fabric options to choose from.
DISCOUNTS
When you book and pay for two or more people onto the same course in one transaction, you will receive a 5% discount. When you book and pay for four or more courses in one transaction, you will receive a 10% discount.
AIMS AND OUTCOMES
By the end of the 5 week course, your child will have made their very own fully functional duffle bag, with zip fastening and flat rope handles, perfect for the beach, sleepovers, or PE kits! We will be using 1.5 metres of a calico or cotton canvas or drill type fabric.
During the course, your child will learn:
How to use a pattern (template) and understand the specialist markings and symbols
How to use a lay plan to accurately cut fabric
How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing
Increase their confidence using a sewing machine, setting the dials and selecting the best stitch settings, and how to solve common problems
How to construct accurate and strong seams
How to “finish” the edge of fabric to prevent fraying
How to insert a zip using specialist presser feet on the sewing machine
Various sewing processes such as application of interfacing and top stitching
To think logically-assembling various fabric pieces in a sequenced order
