Upcycle your hoodie with tie dye and applique!

  • For children in school years 6, 7, 8, & 9

  • 4 week course

  • 1.5 hour sessions = 6 hours of learning time

  • Tuesday 23rd, 30th September, 7th, 14th October.

  • 6pm to 7.30pm

  • Held at Redborne Upper School, in Ampthill. 


WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

The price you pay reserves you a place at each weekly session, full use of all machines and tools, and includes your kit to make your project.

You will receive your kit in session 1, which includes all the essentials you need to upcycle your hoodie, such as templates, dyes, threads, and fabric. You just need to bring a hoodie with you to upcycle!

DISCOUNTS

When you book and pay for two or more people onto the same course in one transaction, you will receive a 5% discount. When you book and pay for four or more courses in one transaction, you will receive a 10% discount. 


AIMS AND OUTCOMES

By the end of the 4 week course, your child will have learnt different tie dye techniques and the complex and effective technique reverse applique. They will combine the two decorative techniques to creatively upcycle their own hoodie, with the help of imagery and templates for inspiration.

During the course, your child will learn:

  • How to use a pattern (template) and understand the specialist markings and symbols

  • How to dye fabric into interesting patterns and colour combinations

  • How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing

  • Increase their confidence using a sewing machine, setting the dials and selecting the best stitch settings, and how to solve common problems

  • How to sew with stretchy sweatshirt fabric

  • The reverse applique technique with the use of stitch and tear

  • Creativity skills to combine colour, pattern on a wearable item

  • Various sewing processes such as application of interfacing and top stitching

  • To think logically-assembling various fabric pieces in a sequenced order
