On arrival to session one, you will receive a kit with everything you need to make your lovely kimono jacket. This includes fabric, interfacing, threads, and a pattern (templates to cut each fabric piece out). I will need some information from you in advance, to prepare your kit. Please watch the short videos and read the information before completing the short form at the bottom of this page.
fabric options
You are welcome of course to bring your own fabric. I recommend a soft and drapey poplin or challis. Definitely avoid anything shiny and slippery, or sheer, or thick like denim, and nothing that is stretchy, as these are difficult to cut and sew, and not suitable for this product. Information on the amount of fabric you need to buy is found below.
Pattern size
The kimono comes in size small and large, so to ensure you are provided with the correct pattern, please complete the form below to let me know your waist measurement. This does not affect whether you want to make the long or short style kimono.
To accurately measure your waist, use a tape measure against your skin or a thin top like a vest top. To place the tape in the correct place, consider either the smallest part of your torso between your bust and hips, or roughly 10cms above your bellybutton. Use the image to help you.
Complete the form below to tell me your size and the fabric you would like in your kit, from the options above. There are limited amounts of each fabric, so will be allocated on a first come first served basis on completion of the form. If your fabric runs out, I will contact you for an alternative.
Fabric requirements
If you would like to buy your own fabric, check the amounts below, depending on length version and your size.
