AIMS AND OUTCOMES
This will be an enjoyable day of designing, cutting, sewing, and socialising. You will also learn lots of sewing skills to use on future projects! We’re really proud to say that children who attend our courses become independent crafters, using materials, tools, and the sewing machine independently.
During the day, your child will learn:
How to use a pattern (template) and understand the specialist markings and symbols
How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing
Increase their confidence using a sewing machine, setting the dials, selecting the best stitch settings, changing the presser foot, and how to solve common problems
How to construct accurate and strong seams
How to “finish” the edge of fabric to prevent fraying
How to insert elastic to make something stretch and become a fastening
How to insert a zip
To think logically-assembling various fabric pieces in a sequenced order
