WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

The price you pay reserves you a place at each weekly session, all materials, and full use of all machines and tools. There is a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, which you can browse below. Please select the fabric selection you’d like when you book your place.

PAYMENT PLANS

When you click to book, you have the choice to pay a non refundable deposit of £10 to reserve a place, or to pay the full price to confirm your place. If you pay the £10 deposit today, you must pay the balance 3 weeks before the first session to confirm your place.

FABRIC PACKS

The kaftan will be made from a beautiful broderie anglaise style fabric, which is 100% cotton, making it breathable and soft to wear at the beach. Choose from the three colour options below.


AIMS AND OUTCOMES

By the end of the 6 week course, your child will have made their very own kaftan. A loose fitting, comfortable dress with wide sleeves and elasticated waist, to throw over swimwear at the beach or round the pool.

During the course, your child will learn:

  • How to use a pattern (template) and understand the specialist markings and symbols

  • How to use a lay plan to accurately cut fabric

  • How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing

  • Increase their confidence using a sewing machine, setting the dials and selecting the best stitch settings, and how to solve common problems

  • How to construct accurate and strong seams

  • How to “finish” the edge of fabric to prevent fraying

  • How to insert elastic to provide flexibility to the fit

  • To think logically-assembling various fabric pieces in a sequenced order
