AIMS AND OUTCOMES

By the end of the 5 week course, you will have made either a memory bear or bunny, the choice is yours. With as much or as little help as you require, you will be guided on how and where to cut into your precious items, to ensure that the “best” bits are kept and take prominence on your special, keepsake bear or bunny. It’s a lovely way to display these items rather than stored away in a memory box. We understand how much these items mean to you and how meaningful your memory bear will become.

During the course, you will learn:

  • How to use a pattern (template) and and understand the specialist markings and symbols

  • How to use the sewing machine and different tools and equipment used in sewing

  • The different types of presser feet and stitch settings on the machine, to increase your confidence when making sewing choices independently

  • Knowledge of different types of fabrics and notions

  • How to sew straight, strong seams

  • The “bagging out” technique so commonly used in sewing, and how to use stuffing and teddy bear accessories for eyes and noses!
